Project Overview: In my Master's research thesis, I developed a deep learning approach to predict early signs of depression from social media data. Our approach utilizes BERT and RoBERTa models to classify user-generated content into 'depressed' and 'not depressed' categories.

Dataset: The data used for this project was obtained from the Early Risk Prediction on the Internet dataset.

Methodology: Our approach follows a structured pipeline consisting of four phases:

• Phase 1 - Data Augmentation: SMOTE applied to balance classes.
• Phase 2 - Preprocessing: Cleaned dataset, tokenized text, 80% training / 20% testing split.
• Phase 3 - Data Loading: Dataloader implemented for batching, shuffling, and loading.
• Phase 4 - Model Evaluation: BERT 98.25% accuracy, RoBERTa 93.03% accuracy.

Results: This project demonstrates the effectiveness of deep learning in identifying early signs of depression from social media posts.
